Images are often the biggest performance drain. They’re also an SEO opportunity — alt text, file names, and structured data. Optimize both.
Format and Size
- WebP — Modern format. 25–35% smaller than JPEG. Use with JPEG fallback for older browsers.
- Dimensions — Serve the size you need. Don’t load 2000px for a 400px display.
- Compression — Quality 80–85 often looks fine. Test.
Lazy Loading
- Below the fold — Don’t load images until they’re near the viewport.
- Native lazy loading —
loading="lazy"on img. Supported everywhere. - Above the fold — Don’t lazy load. Hurts LCP.
SEO
- Alt text — Describe the image. “Industrial adhesive application on aluminum surface.” Not “image1.jpg.”
- File names — Descriptive. “epoxy-adhesive-spec-sheet.jpg” not “IMG_4823.jpg.”
We optimize every asset. Plan your rebuild.
